About Big Ideas
Aine Seitz McCarthy
I'm a PhD candidate in Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota, specializing in international development and policy analysis. I'm also research assistant at the Minnesota Population Center where I play with international census data on the IPUMS-International project. My research centers around the microeconomics of development and intra-household bargaining. My dissertation project addresses the impact (in terms of uptake in contraceptives and bargaining power) of a Community-Based Distributor family planning intervention in the Meatu district of Tanzania. When I'm not studying like crazy, I spend time playing outside. I have a lot of big ideas.
What I write on this blog is solely my opinion and not that of the University of Minnesota.
This is how to pronounce my first name.
