So when I get out to rural Meatu, where most of my research will be based, the project is renting a three-bedroom house/office for myself and my field assistant. It'll nice to have a home base out there which can also be a crash pad for other students on the project and a research office.
The hilarious thing is that, Loi (field assistant) and I have just started working together professionally about a week ago and are basically making married-couple decisions together on furnishing this place.
Aine: Do you like this water kettle, or this one?
Loi: The white one is nicer. And should we buy these towels or get some cheaper ones in Meatu?
Aine: Probably cheaper in Meatu. Also, I like this knife set, but I think the price is a bit high. Maybe we should just put it on the registry.
Just kidding about that last part.
